Tom Wysom, a 55-year-old resident of Ottawa, has been arrested and charged with both the possession and distribution of an extensive child pornography collection.

Months ago, Ottawa police working for the Internet Child Exploitation Unit were deep into an investigation. They were searching through a peer-to-peer file sharing network to determine where certain child pornography images were coming from. Detectives discovered an IP address located in Ottawa that was being used to share images and videos of young children being sexually abused, and investigators quickly connected the IP address to the user Tom Wysom.

Back in October, Ottawa Police issued a search warrant for Wysom’s home and computer. They seized computers, digital devices and literally thousands of sexually graphic and illegal photographs and videos.

Throughout his court proceedings, Wysom eventually pleaded guilty to all charges. He admitted to watching the horrifying videos and looking at the photographs as a side-effect of his pornography addiction. According to Wysom, his addiction to pornography caused him to no longer be stimulated by “normal” porn. He self-admitted to becoming desensitized to the violent and disturbing content found on his computer. He confessed that he used the images to self-treat clinical depression. After being examined by Forensic psychiatrist Dr. Jonathan Gray, it was concluded that the suspect suffered from a “pedophilic disorder.” He was sentenced to two years in prison.

Disturbingly, the suspect was working as an animator and character builder for multiple popular child television shows. He has been acknowledged for his extensive work in at least 26 episodes of “My Little Pony” and 23 episodes of “Littlest Pet Shop”.
